Is it possible to do this wirelessly with an iPad 8 running OS 17.6.1, and if so- how???
The laptop recognises previous now redundant ipads and I don't recall this degree of difficulty linking them up? Has something changed in the current environment?

Hi @marqaco1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are facing an issue with linking the iPad to your Laptop.
You can connect your iPad 8 to your HP laptop wirelessly, and there are several methods to do this. Here are some common ways:
1. Using iCloud:
If you're looking to sync files, using iCloud is a good option.
On your iPad:
- Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud.
- Enable the services you want to use (e.g., Photos, Drive).
On your HP Laptop:
- Go to iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
- You can access and download files synced from your iPad.
2. Using AirDrop Alternative (Third-party Apps):
AirDrop isn’t available on Windows, but you can use apps like SHAREit or Send Anywhere to transfer files.
- Install the app on both devices.
- Follow the app's instructions to connect and share files.
3. Using Microsoft OneDrive:
If you have a OneDrive account, you can upload files from your iPad and access them on your laptop.
On your iPad:
- Download the OneDrive app from the App Store.
- Sign in and upload files.
On your HP Laptop:
- Access OneDrive through your browser or the desktop app.
4. Remote Desktop Applications:
If you want to control your laptop from your iPad or vice versa, you can use remote desktop applications like TeamViewer or Chrome Remote Desktop.
5. Wi-Fi Direct (if supported):
Some apps support Wi-Fi Direct connections, which allow for file transfers without an internet connection.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues:
- Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart both devices if you experience issues.
- Ensure that any firewalls or antivirus programs on your HP laptop aren’t blocking connections.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
