My HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15 suddenly lost bluetooth capability.  The bluetooth icon does not even show up on device manager anymore.  What could have caused this and how do i correct it.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptop's bluetooth!  

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check If Bluetooth Is Disabled in Device Manager

  • Press Win + X → Select Device Manager.
  •  
  • Click View → Enable Show Hidden Devices.
  • Look for Bluetooth in the list.
  • If found but grayed out, right-click → Enable Device.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings (Win + I) → Update & Security → Troubleshoot.
  • Click Additional Troubleshooters → Select Bluetooth → Run the troubleshooter.

Restart Bluetooth Services

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  • Find these services:
    • Bluetooth Support Service
    • Bluetooth Handsfree Service
    • Bluetooth Audio Gateway Service
  • Right-click each → Select Restart.
  • Set their Startup Type to Automatic (if not already).

Check for Hidden or Disabled Bluetooth Adapter

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Network Adapters and USB Controllers.
  • If you see Unknown Device or Bluetooth Adapter, right-click and Enable it.

Update or Reinstall Bluetooth Drivers

  • Open Device Manager → Expand Bluetooth (if available).
  • Right-click on the Bluetooth adapter → Select Update DriverSearch Automatically.
  • If Bluetooth is missing, try installing the driver from HP’s website for your model:
    • Visit: HP Support
    • Enter your HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15 model.
    • Download the latest Bluetooth drivers and install them.

Perform a Power Reset (BIOS Refresh)

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Unplug the charger and disconnect all external devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger and turn the laptop on.
  • Check if Bluetooth is restored.

Check BIOS Settings (If Bluetooth Is Disabled in BIOS)

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc / F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • Look for Wireless Configuration → Ensure Bluetooth is enabled.

Perform a Windows System Restore (If Issue Started After Update)

  • Press Win + R, type rstrui, and hit Enter.
  • Choose a restore point before the issue started.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to restore.
