Recently updates to Win 24H2. After that there was no wifi adaptor found - does not show in device manager network adaptor list. I am using an external wifi dongle for now. Does anyone know a solution?

HP Pavilion Aero Laptop 13-be0xxx

Product number: 4H2X2EA#ABU Serial number: 8CG2042RTX

This problem started with the re-start after installation of W 24H2 last week. Since then device manager says that the wifi adaptor is not connected tot he system. Of course, I have tried re-booting many times. I am currently using an external USB adaptor.

I noticed that when I restart the wifi adaptor seems to be there but only for a few seconds, then it disappears. Looking at postings on line, the suggestion is that W24 is removing power from the device. Additionally, Device Manager no longer displays a tab for the device for "power management", where one can opt to have power permanently applied. This problem is reported by many users across a range of manufacturers.

I did specifically set up a restore point before updating to W24H2, but when I try to restore it shows no restore points - the upgrade seems to have wiped them out.

We either need a W24H2 fix for this, or something like a registry fix. Alternatively, a means of going back to W23.

Hi @LaurieBlack,

Thank you for sharing the above information and please follow the below steps to fix the issue.

-Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and wait for the PC to boot into Windows.

I got it to work; RTL8821CE Software (https://www.realtek.com/Download/List?cate_id=669&menu_id=404) is the only driver you need. Install the manufacturer driver for the chipset. It operates flawlessly on my Windows 24H2.
I tested every driver for this version of Windows, but neither the most recent 2024.10.230.2 nor 2024.10.229 or x.142 worked.

If you see device error code 10 cannot start. Do a power cycle to flush all power.
