The internet connection drops all the time on my computer but works everywhere else in the house. There is an old solution on HP about updating the wifi and bluetooth connection. I have tried this solution many times. It starts to download and then never give me a completed notification. I am assuming because I already have the correct update but idk. My computer currently has Intel (R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz. Without Wi-Fi connection the computer is unusable and I've wasted my money. Thanks for any help

Hi @AppleBumb,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with the Wi-Fi on your HP Pavilion Laptop 15. Since you've already tried updating the Wi-Fi driver but the issue persists, here are some additional troubleshooting steps that might help stabilize your internet connection.

Check for Driver Conflicts

Even though you might have the latest driver, sometimes a conflicting or corrupted driver can cause connectivity issues.

  • Go to Device Manager.
  • Expand Network adapters.
  • Right-click on Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz and choose Uninstall (ensure "Delete the driver software for this device" is checked).
  • Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Disable Power Management for the Wi-Fi Adapter

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
  • Go to the Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
  • Click OK.

Update the Wi-Fi Driver from Intel's Website

Sometimes the manufacturer's site will have a newer version than HP's website:

  • Go to the Intel Driver & Support Assistant and download the latest drivers directly from Intel.
  • Install the update and restart your computer.

Disable Bluetooth Temporarily

  • Bluetooth can sometimes interfere with Wi-Fi, especially if they share similar bands.
  • Try turning off Bluetooth from Settings > Devices and see if that improves the Wi-Fi stability.

Change Router Wi-Fi Channel

If there is too much interference on the current Wi-Fi channel your router is using:

  • Log into your router's admin panel (typically accessed via a web browser at 192.168.0.1 or similar).
  • Change the Wi-Fi channel to a less crowded one (Channels 1, 6, or 11 are typically best for 2.4 GHz).

Adjust Router’s Bandwidth Mode

  • Check if your router is set to use 160 MHz mode. Sometimes this higher bandwidth can cause connectivity issues.
  • Try switching it to 80 MHz or 40 MHz to see if the connection improves.

Reset TCP/IP and Winsock

This can help fix any corrupt network settings:

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each:

netsh int ip

reset netsh winsock

reset ipconfig /flushdns

  • Restart your computer after running these commands.

Check Windows Updates

If a recent Windows update is causing the issue:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for any pending updates, especially optional ones related to network drivers or compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
