Hi @miller2013,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing "No Internet Access" while connected to Wi-Fi, and McAfee and a VPN are involved, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Check VPN Settings:
- Ensure that the VPN is properly configured and connected. Sometimes, VPNs can block internet access if there's a configuration issue or if the VPN server is down.
Disable VPN Temporarily:
- Disconnect from the VPN and check if you can access the internet. If you can access the internet without the VPN, there might be an issue with the VPN configuration.
Restart Devices:
- Restart your laptop, router, and modem. This can often resolve connectivity issues.
Check McAfee Settings:
- Ensure that McAfee's firewall or security settings are not blocking your internet connection. You might need to adjust the firewall settings to allow the VPN and internet access.
Network Troubleshooter:
- Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
Check IP Configuration:
- Open Command Prompt (cmd) as an administrator and run the following commands:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
- These commands will release and renew your IP address and flush the DNS cache.
Update Network Drivers:
- Ensure that your network drivers are up-to-date. Go to Device Manager > Network adapters, right-click your network adapter, and select Update driver.
Check Proxy Settings:
- Ensure that your proxy settings (if any) are correctly configured or turned off. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
