Pavillion dv6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello -

I have an HP Pavillion DV6 notebook, running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit.  I recently noticed the two 5G wireless connections on my router are not showing up in the list of avaialble wireless networks. My other devices (pad / cell) can see these two and my computer used to. After much troubleshooting, it is not the router and I can confirm the Intel Dual Band driver is missing from the Intel  / Wireless utilites. The Intel My Wifi panel shows - "Network Adapter Not Found - A supported Intel Wireless network adopter was not found on this computer.

Does anyone know where the correct driver can be downloaded for installation? I have tried the HP support asssistant but that did not work.

Thanks

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

Please do not post the serial number.

Hi Paul -

The product number is QA796AV. Thanks for any assistance you can provide, this has been annoying.

You're very welcome.

Below is the link to the parts list for the product number notebook you posted.

None of the wifi card listed...Intel or otherwise, are dual band wifi adapters.

They all only work on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, and there are no dual band internal wifi cards you can upgrade to.

Hey Paul -

Thanks for the info but I am pretty sure this computer saw  the 5G networks before. I've had the router for over a year and it was working just fine. Now, the 5G options are not visible in the network list. I have two on my router with custom names and can see them on my other devices.

Correct me if I am wrong - but doesnt this computer have a standard dual band wi-fi card? Also, why is the Intel tool on the  not seeing any Intel drivers? It really appears like a driver is missing. The one I recall is AC-8250 or something like AC-8xxx.

Thanks again.

Not in that model series.

The best Intel card available for your PC's model series was the wimax 6150, single band wifi card.

You can find the exact model wifi adapter your notebook has by going to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.
