Several months ago, I suddenly lost the ability to connect to the internet through Wifi. I subsequently discovered that the Wifi driver on my notebook PC was no longer there. I have tried to download and reinstall the Wifi driver; but since this is an older notebook (originally loaded with Windows 7, I believe) and I upgraded to Windows 10, HP says that there is no Wifi driver available for me. (i.e. HP does not support a Windows 10 wifi driver for my notebook. Is that correct? Are there any available solutions for me? Does this mean that I have to buy a new notebook if I want Wifi connectivity?

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
Since this issue started after Windows 10 upgrade, this seems to be a driver problem
I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...
The HPSA will automatically look for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows 10 is up to date
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates.
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day😊

Thanks for replying, KrazyToad, but "been there, done that." I tried again just to be sure. My Windows 10 software is up to date and HP Support Assistant offers no updates. Apparently, the HP Support Assistant does not recognize that my notebook is missing a Wifi driver.

Thanks for keeping me posted
I suggest you Reset the Notebook and this will eliminate all drivers or OS related issues. You can follow the instructions in this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289
Thank you
