Missing a driver for my laptop.

I have a Pavilion DV5000 and need a driver for the Broadcom WiFi device.

Anyone out there have one of these laptops too?

You're very welcome.

There are only XP, Vista and W7 driver for the Broadcom Wi-Fi adapter model your notebook comes with.

Thanks Paul Tikkanen. How do you search the ftp server for files. I think it'd be easier if I could grab the rest of the drivers before I start installing Win 7.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, you can't, and neither can anyone else because HP removed access to their ftp servers late last year citing 'security reasons.'

The only place I know of where you can get drivers for some retired PC's is from this reputable 3rd party driver website.

If you know the exact model # of your dv5000, they may have drivers for that specific model.

Your notebook only had driver support for XP and Vista 32 bit.

I have the part number : ET038EA#ABU, plus a code called dv5094EA. Is This any good? I want to put Win 7 on it, if possible.

Your notebook should work fine if you install W7 32 bit.

Here's their driver page for your notebook:

Use the Vista drivers.

You may have to manually install the Vista graphics driver because usually when you install the Vista driver you will get an unsupported operating system error.

You can use the W7 Broadcom Wi-Fi driver I gave you earlier.

Unfortunately, I cannot, because there was never a 64 bit driver developed for the audio chip your notebook has. 

That is why I specifically indicated that W7 32 bit should work fine. 

There is a Vista 32 bit driver for the audio.
