@BAK58, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If the wireless network has disappeared from your HP Pavilion DM4 laptop, and you can only see the Ethernet connection, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the Wireless Switch/Button:

  • Ensure that the wireless switch or button on your laptop is turned on. On many laptops, this is a physical button or a function key (often one of the F keys) that can enable/disable the wireless network adapter.

Verify Wireless Adapter Status:

  • Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings. Ensure the wireless network adapter is enabled. If not, right-click it and select Enable.

Use HP Wireless Assistant:

  • Some HP laptops come with the HP Wireless Assistant utility. Open this tool to check the status of your wireless adapter.

Update Wireless Adapter Drivers:

  • Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop's wireless adapter. Alternatively, you can update the driver through Device Manager:
    • Right-click Start, select Device Manager, expand Network adapters, right-click your wireless adapter, and choose Update driver.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Run the troubleshooter for Internet Connections and Network Adapter.

Check Wi-Fi Settings:

  • Ensure your wireless network is not set to hidden. Access your router's settings to confirm the SSID broadcast is enabled.

Restart Network Devices:

  • Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging their power cables for about 30 seconds and then plugging them back in.

Check for Interference:

  • Ensure there are no large metal objects or electronic devices like microwaves that could be interfering with the wireless signal.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
