Hi @360eyes,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

You did the right thing by not providing your credit-card information or allowing the callers to access your computer. Based on what you described, an unsolicited security warning followed by phone calls asking you to verify or secure the computer is consistent with a technical-support scam, not a normal HP support process.

Please do not call those numbers back, click any “Fix,” “Call Support,” or similar buttons, or allow anyone to remotely access the laptop.

If the computer is currently locked by a message that claims your system is infected, compromised, or requires you to call a telephone number, please tell us exactly what the screen says. A photo of the screen would also be helpful. Please hide any personal information from the photo.

If you can still access Windows

  • Disconnect from the Internet.
  • Do not install anything the caller provided.
  • Close the suspicious browser window if possible.
  • Run Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Full scan
  • If you installed any software or gave remote access during the incident, let us know.

If you cannot use the computer at all
Please provide the exact message displayed on the screen and let us know whether you can still access the Windows desktop, the Ctrl + Alt + Delete screen, or the HP Startup Menu.

If the laptop is locked before Windows starts, that is a different situation, and we should not assume it is a scam pop-up without checking the exact message.

For official HP assistance, use HP's support website rather than any telephone number displayed in a pop-up or provided by an unsolicited caller: Laptop Computers, Desktops, Printers, Ink & Toner | HP® India

Since you did not provide your credit-card information, that part is reassuring. If you also did not provide passwords or permit remote access, please tell us what is currently displayed on the laptop, and we can determine the safest next step for your HP Pavilion x360 15-er0000 (23T75AV).

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
