Hi @sriharsha2071,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding frequent disconnections of the HP 420 programmable Bluetooth mouse!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Update Bluetooth Driver

  • Windows Update:
    • Go to Settings, select Update & Security, and click on Check for updates. Install any available updates.
  • HP Support Assistant:
    • Open HP Support Assistant from the Start Menu or taskbar.
    • Check for updates and install the latest drivers for Bluetooth provided by HP.

Check Bluetooth Settings

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
  • Expand the Bluetooth section, locate your Bluetooth adapter, right-click on it, select Properties, and navigate to the Power Management tab.
  • Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.

Power Settings

  • Go to Control Panel, click on Hardware and Sound, and then Power Options.
  • Click on Change plan settings next to your selected power plan.
  • Click on Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand USB settings and ensure that the USB selective suspend setting is disabled.

Bluetooth Connection Stability

  • Ensure your mouse is within range and not too far from the laptop.
  • Avoid interference from other electronic devices that may disrupt the Bluetooth signal.
  • Remove any Bluetooth devices that are not in use or might be causing a conflict.

Re-pair the Bluetooth Mouse

  • Go to Settings, select Devices, and then select Bluetooth & other devices.
  • Remove the HP 420 Bluetooth Mouse from the list of paired devices.
  • Turn off Bluetooth on your laptop, wait for about 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
  • Pair the mouse again by following the pairing instructions provided by HP.

Check for Interference

  • Check if other wireless devices are causing interference with Bluetooth signals.
  • Move your laptop and mouse away from potential sources of interference like routers, cordless phones, or microwave ovens.

I hope this helps.
