My touchpad has always randomly been stuck pressing down and would come back up in a few services but recently it has become stuck fully pressed down for days. I have a ton of important stuff on this laptop and I'm not sure if it's all backed up. Is there a way of fixing it or is it gone?

Contact HP team, it seems like the problem is with the hardware, not the software & driver.

To make sure further, try checking if there is a problem with the touchpad driver via 'device manager'. In general, there are three types that are part of the touchpad driver, in the device manager expand 'software components', 'mice and other pointing devices', 'human interface devices'.
