Hi @sundaycrave,

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you. 🙂 I reviewed the post regarding issues with frequent and random Wifi disconnections. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂

Superb description and stupendous diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require information regarding this:

  • Did this happen after a software or windows update?
  • Does the computer get connected using a hard wired Ethernet cable?
  • Please let me know the complete model# of the computer to assist you better.

The wireless card of the computer could be faulty because of weak antennas

For a start please perform these steps:

  • Please ensure that there is no interference from air conditioners, microwaves and other equipment that could cause the wireless signal to drop. If there is no such equipment, then, please perform these steps:
  • Please check the router broadcasting to channel 11 and check if the connectivity improves.

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand Network adapters>then select the wireless Network drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and wifi drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2syreDe please select the country and follow the on-screen instructions. Please make sure to use an Ethernet cable and then update it.
  • If it still does not work, then the wireless card may be faulty. Please run a wireless module test on it. from this link: http://hp.care/2tlKjct and follow the options under component tests.

  • Also please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2sUotwi for resolving Wi-Fi issues.
  • If the issue persists please follow the wireless guided troubleshooter from this link: http://hp.care/2he6M7f and check if the issue gets corrected.

  • If it still does not work, then the wireless module may be faulty and a workaround here would be to order a wireless USB dongle and plug it to one of the USB ports of the computer and then connect it to the router to connect to the internet. It is very cost effective and economical and also corrects the situation. You could order one locally by contacting Best Buy or Staples or on Amazon or eBay.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Upbutton to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a terrific week ahead. 🙂

@sundaycrave

It looks like you were interacting with @DavidSMP, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.

I understand your concern and have reviewed your conversation, I had a few questions though:

Did you check the router broadcasting to channel 11 and check if the connectivity improves?

Or perform the other steps suggested by the last tech, who happens to be an expert on resolving internet issues.

Please let me know what you've done so far and depending on that I should be able to provide a suitable solution as I wouldn't want to repeat the steps you've already done.

I hope you understand.

If I have helped you resolve the issue,

Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon

Followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'

And Have a great day ahead!

Hi @sundaycrave,

I reviewed the case completely. I was away on my weekend and could not respond immediately.  You've shown great efforts, immaculate attitude coupled with commendable technical competence to try and resolve the issue, Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂

Have you tried all the steps mentioned in the links from my previous post?If you've tried all the steps, then it is possible that the wireless card has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

For now please try these steps:

1) Start Menu > Control Panel > Administrative Tools for the Classic View (long list of items) or Start Menu > Control Panel > > Performance and Maintenace > Administrative Tools for Category View (colorful, big icons).

2) Double-click Services.

3) In this window, click the Name column header (where it says “Name”) to sort by the service name.

4) Scroll down to find WLAN AutoConfig service. Stop the service first. Then restart it and make sure that it runs automatically.

5) Make sure that dependency services are also stopped and restarted.

Then check again if the issue gets resolved.

If the issue still persists, Try assigning a static IP and check if the issue still persists.Try contacting your internet service provider for assistance.

Control Panel > set icon view > Network and Sharing >
Left-Click on your active WiFi connection (in blue next to the word "Connections" >
In WiFi Status >> Click on Properties >
In WiFi Properties >> Scroll down the middle section and look for "Internet Protocol Version 4" >
Left-Click to Highlight the selection > click Properties >
Click to select "Use the following IP Address:" >
Enter your IP address, subnet mask, and gateway information
Click to select "Use the following DNS server addresses"
Click OK to save and exit

Restart / Reboot the computer and check if the issue persists.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Cheers!
