I have just received two new HP Envy 17-inch laptops (17-cr0008ca) which I wish to setup. They do not come with the 10/100 ethernet card and a RJ 45 cable port for the hard wire connection to a router. I am told that a docking station with a RJ 45 cable outlet will let me do this. Do I just plug the RJ45 cable into the docking station and the docking station into the Thunder bolt outlet on the laptop or is there more to it then just using the docking station??
Is there a special docking station I should be buying??
I would like to know how to do this before I start the setup of the units

Hi:
If all you need is an ethernet connection, you can buy a USB 3 to RJ-45 gigabit ethernet adapter.

I have the same laptop and the problem is that when I plug in the USB 3.0 adapter to the USB 3.0 port and the Ethernet cable to the adapter the Ethernet is connected, but falls back to the wifi in about 35-45 seconds. Working with HP tech upport, 4 different techs could not fix the problem. They told me that is is my Realtek USB Gbe family Controller that will not sustain the connection. They could not find a driver in Realtek to work.
An independent computer repairman near by tld me that HP has not developed a driver to work with this laptop's version which is win pro. They have not yet replied to me with a solution, and I am such with slow WiFi.
If anybody know a solution, or can hell, please let me know.

Thanks again, Paul but Amazon reports that they will no longer stock this item, or have it for sale. I hesitate to try any other of their offering, unless they have been tried, or working in Win11, as I have purchased 3 other brands that did no work.
Maybe another member, or yourself have previous experience with a working item.
Thank you
