You're very welcome.

The hardware ID you posted is for the Ralink RT3290 wifi adapter.

This would be the lastest W8.1 driver for it.

5.0.50.0

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69543.exe

If the card keeps disappearing on you, what I recommend you try is to remove and firmly reseat the wifi card.

Sometimes the electrical contacts get oxidized, interrupting the electrical connection.

Leave the antenna wires connected to it if you can to facilitate an easy reinstallation.

Here is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

If the wifi card continues to have issues after you perform that procedure, you may want to consider replacing the card with this upgraded model...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You should be able to find the card on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Hi:

According to the parts list for your notebook, those drivers should have worked.

https://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=C9L73PA

So unless the wifi card is no good, the only other thing it could be is that HP installed an equivalent model wifi card in your notebook.

When the wifi adapter needs a driver, there will be a device listed in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller.

Please post the hardware ID for the Network controller, so I can confirm what model wifi adapter your notebook has.

Use this guide to find that information...

Hi, thanks for replying.

After posting here I reinstalled windows 8.1. Wifi was working fine. I didn't have to install any driver. Even today in the morning it was ok but at noon when I turn on my laptop there was no wifi driver. In device manager it was under "view hidden device". Before, Windows update was disabled, now I see it enabled itself. although can't check for updates, showing error 8024402F.

This is what I could find under the hardware ID for the wifi driver

PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3290&SUBSYS_18EC103C&REV_00

PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3290&SUBSYS_18EC103C

PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3290&CC_028000

PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3290&CC_0280

I tried to install the driver after uninstalling from device manager, didn't work

Installed the above driver. Still under "hidden device" in device manager.
