My Mediatek MT7921 stops working. Doesn't even show in device manager. A reboot use to fix it but not any more. The adapter shows in device manager, but I can't connect to my router.

Hi, did you recently upgrade to Windows 11, or did your laptop come pre-installed with Windows 11?
The challenge is coming most likely because of the Windows 11 Operating System which is known for its driver issues, software problems, and various hardware challenges.
You could try installing Windows 10 to see if it can fix the issue. Windows 11 is still in early development, so it is advised not to use it just yet.

If you do a google search for mediatek mt7921 you will see that a large number of the results are from people having these same exact problems. I have seen lots of people with HP and some with Asus having this problem.... that makes me think that this is something affecting A LOT of people and not just a few... Like maybe there was defective bunch of these chips or a defective driver being given to people... that led me to find a fix for my laptop..
I have a newly purchased HP Pavillion laptop with the wifi adapter (Mediatek MT7921). It would frequently lose internet connection, then not show any networks available, then seem to disappear for a few minutes, and then reappear. I believe windows was detecting that the device would stop working, then attempt to restart the device driver. I tried everything... updating drivers, uninstalling, reinstalling, as well as pretty much everything that you said. I eventually started getting Blue Screen of Death. The strange thing is that when I ran a component test in the BIOS, it would always pass.
I did everything that HP tech support could recommend... even performed a couple of HP Cloud Recovery Factory Resets... but this didn't fix it either. Even before I ran any updates or installed any programs, the problem persisted on a factory reset machine. I began to theorize that maybe the driver that HP included with their recovery image and on their driver server was somehow corrupted or defective. I then determined to download a Windows 11 ISO directly from microsoft (and not HP) and let microsoft find drivers. This went well until I could not complete the setup process because it didn't detect any wifi networks. Turns out that the Windows ISO didn't have a proper driver either. There was a way to open up a command line and install a driver through there. So I looked online and found another driver (not sure from which provider) which worked enough for me to install Windows 11. But then again, on a fresh installation of Windows 11, I had the same problem. I then decided to try another driver from another computer maker (theorizing that HP had a bad driver in their repositories). I downloaded a driver called "MediaTek-FORCED-10x64-7961_3.00.01.1309_lenovo-drp" that I found on a third party site. Upon closer review, I think it actually might be for a slightly different adapter... Anyways, I removed the other driver and updated it to this one and kept my fingers crossed to see what would happen.
Well, 30 minutes went by, then an hour, then 2, then several... then overnight... then all day so far today I have not had a single problem. Normally, I would lose internet about every 30 minutes or less. if I opened up windows event viewer, I would see tons of errors related to the networking and internet. However, there are little to no errors being reporting and the internet has not stopped working once. This makes me think that my theory may have been correct... that maybe there are some faulty drivers being provided through HP and maybe even ASUS... I don't know... However, I would encourage you to try finding the driver that I mentioned and give it a shot. I was about to give up on this computer and/or just install linux and hope that worked better, but this seems to have solved the problem.
