Just got a new laptop in November: HP Spectre 360: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-spectre-15-ch000-x360-convertible-pc/16779588/model/20204703. It doesn't have a network port but I have it hooked up to a docking station with a network cable port. The docking station is connected by a port C to C connection so it should be able to handle a lot. The problem is when I turn on airplane mode, the internet won't work even though the docking station is hooked up to the network. My boyfriend looked up what to do in the manual and he said we have to buy a USB3 to Type C cable. Best Buy guy said we shouldn't have to do that since the docking station should be taking care of that. That's what I thought. Can you tell me how to trouble shoot/fix? I want WiFi off as much as possible. Thanks!

This is not my area of expertise - I can offer some limited advice / observations.
I have an Elitebook that works with a "USB-C to RJ45 Adapter" to connect the computer to our Ethernet / wired network.
The little adapter device works well and eliminates the need to run "Wireless" in the home office.
The device (computer) is not connected to a docking station and I would guess that this important fact makes every difference.
Nonetheless, the following might help you sort what is going on, what can work...
Two Part numbers listed on the device tag (on the unit connected to my Elitebook):
855474-001
and
855560-001
Found the first part number for the device listed as available from eBay-UK: 855474-001
Found part HP 855560-001 USB type-C to RJ-45 adapter
at the HP Parts Store "In Stock"
The unit that came with my Elitebook might not be the "right" adapter for your computer, of course.
I found this in your Service and Maintenance Guide > Page 22
Input/Output Adapters
USB Type-C to VGA 831751-001
USB Type-C to USB Type-A (dongle) 833960-001
USB Type-C to RJ-45 (Ethernet) 901156-001
USB Type-C to Multi-Port Hub 919666-001
That part, too, is listed in the Parts Store.
Open the Store, enter the part number, click on the "blue part" number to see a list of supported devices.
Ask your boyfriend to "check it out". Smiling.

Thanks so much! We called HP and we realized we had connected the docking station to the wrong port. That helped. Then, we had to call our ISP and they told us that we need a wireless router that allows wireless to be turned off (not the power button). So, it's working now with laptop is on Airplane Mode and the ethernet cable hooked up to the modem. Everytime I switch between ethernet and wifi (for the other devices in our home), I have to restart the modem. It's worth it to me!
Also, ISP gave us a trial for upping our speed and they're sending out a wireless router with the upgrade that has the on/off WiFi switch. I'm pretty sure I'll cancel for $25 more per month (total $95 for just internet!!!!)
I may try your way too!

It does sound like you are on your way to making it work for your situation.
We purchase and install our own network hardware - it is nice that the Internet provider helps with fast service options. Smiling.
Happy Computing.
