You have one or the other of these wifi/BT adapters:

For use in HP Notebook models:

● Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 M.2 Combo Adapter 792608-005

● Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter 792610-005

The Realtek is not a very good device and the Broadcom only a little better. Check in device manager under network adapters and see which you have.

Service Manual

See p. 41. I am going to encourage you to open the notebook, and look and see if you have been given one or two wireless antennae because the answer to that question is going to determine what you should ultimately do.

Under The Network Adapter I Have Following Drivers:

  • Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network)
  • Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI)
  • Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi M2 Adapter
  • Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

You have the Broadcom wireless so we still need to check and see if you have one antenna or two. Might want to just replace the Broadcom with another identical new module.
