@sambuelite, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here's how to resolve the network adapter issue you're facing with your HP Notebook, based on the error messages and HP Assistant diagnostics:

You're seeing:

  • LAN icon not available
  • No wireless networks detected
  • HP Assistant errors:
    • 103: Driver missing or hardware issue
    • 104: Driver or hardware issue with network adapters

This typically indicates that the network adapter drivers are missing, corrupted, or the hardware is not being detected properly.

Step-by-Step Fix

Step 1: Use HP Network Diagnostic Tool

HP provides a built-in tool to automatically detect and fix network issues.

Step 2: Reinstall or Update Network Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Drivers & Software page
  2. Enter your HP Notebook model number (you can find this on a sticker under the laptop or in BIOS).
  3. Download and install the latest:
    • Wireless LAN driver
    • Ethernet (LAN) driver
  4. Restart your PC after installation.

Step 3: Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager
  2. Expand Network Adapters
    • If you see a yellow triangle or “Unknown device,” right-click and choose Update driver
    • If no adapter is listed, click Action > Scan for hardware changes

Step 4: BIOS and Chipset Update (if needed)

Sometimes, outdated BIOS or chipset drivers can cause hardware detection issues.

  • Go to the same HP Drivers page
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and Chipset drivers

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
