HP Envy x360 i5
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I got a new laptop, the HP Envy x360 with the i5 processor.  It has windows 10, and I literally got it two days ago.  Since then, the internet has been on and off, with it disconnecting every few mintues.  I have done the Device Manager Options where I click properties and unclick that little box, I have unistalled the driver and reinstalled it, and have even reset my router settings.  And now on that laptop two networks show up with my network name such as "LopezRUs" which is our network name, and now there is another one saying "LopezRUs 2" and I have no idea where it came from or why it happened.

Nothing seems to be working.  My older HP laptop does not have any of these issues, and it is the one I am posting on right now.  Any advice on how else to fix this problem?

Hi! @Chalyse95,

Try updating the wireless drivers and BIOS on the PC to the latest version using HP support assistant and check if the issue persists.

Refer this article to know more information about using the HP support assistant. Click Here

Note: Before uninstalling the wireless drivers make sure the PC is connected with an ethernet connection.

Try the steps recommended below to solve Wi-Fi disconnect issues.

To get rid of the frustrating weak WiFi range/signal bars, you can use the command lines to reset the IP and speed up the slow network strength on the computer:

1. Right click on the Start button.

2. Choose the Command Prompt (Admin).

3. Type into the command line below to clean the DNS and then hit the Enter key:

ipconfig /flushdns

4. Type the following command to reset the Winsock directory and hit Enter:

netsh winsock reset catalog

5. Type netsh int ip reset into the command to reset the IP and hit Enter.

Set the wireless adapter to work in maximum performance mode

Press Windows Key + S and enter Power Options. Select Power Options from the menu.
Once the Power Options window opens, locate your current plan and click Change plan settings.
Click on Change advanced power settings.
Locate Wireless Adapter Settings and set the Power Saving Mode to Maximum Performance.
Click Apply and OK to save changes.

Change the Sensibility value

Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager from the list.
Once Device Manager opens locate your Wi-Fi adapter, right click it and choose Properties.
Go to Advanced tab and locate Roaming Sensitivity Level, Roaming Aggressiveness or Roam Tendency to Highest or Aggressive.
Set Transmit Power or Transmit Power Level to Highest.
Select Antenna Diversity and set it to Auto.
In Band Preference choose Prefer 802.11a if your wireless network is using 5GHz frequency or set it to Prefer 802.11g/b if your wireless network is using 2.4GHz frequency.
Save changes and check if the problem is resolved. You might have to restart your computer before the changes take effect.

Hope this answers your query!

Have a great day! 🙂
