HP Notebook 15 - F111dx
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hoping someone can help. I’ve seen other posts here with this problem (involving different laptops), but I was unable to solve the issue with any of the “fixes” previously suggested.

I have 2 HP 15 -F111dx Notebooks in the house. We just upgraded our internet speed and had to replace our old router with the new Fios Home Router G3100. We’ve successfully connected all cell phones and our Ring devices to the new wifi without issue, but we have not been able to connect the laptops. Our new wifi is not showing up on either laptop as an available option.  There is a list of available connections. The laptops are picking up the neighbors wifi networks - just not ours.

I contacted Verizon to troubleshoot. They split the signal from the router into 2 frequencies (2.4 and 5 GHz), rebooted the router, and performed a factory reset. They found no issues with the new router and said the problem must be with the laptops.

As for the laptops, I believe I successfully updated the drivers for the network adapter (RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g/n) and I tried “troubleshooting”, but that was unsuccessful. I understand these laptops are pretty old, but they still work really well and  have no other issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi:

The RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapter only works on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, so your 2.4 GHz SSID should be showing up to connect to.

This would be the latest W8.1 wifi driver for that model wifi adapter...
