Hello, HP Community. I´ve been having trouble with my HP Pavilion g4: after having a BSOD encounter and successfully "saving" the PC by reinstalling the OS (Windows 7 Home Premium SP1) from a USB bootable device, I found out there was no internet access. Device manager showed 2 net-related devices within the "other devices" tab.
Googling up the problem, I came to a partial solution, by which I dowloaded and installed controllers for the PCIe Ethernet Controller device, thereby regaining acces to the internet as long as the ethernet cable be connected to the PC. But, still no Wi-Fi access, and there's the "net / Network Controller" (in this PC, it shows as "Controladora de Red" -it's in Spanish). Now, I did try and installed some "Broadcom" drivers, according to some solution in some forum somewhere... but -shocker!- to no avail.
I´m pretty sure, tho, that my problem in this particular situation´s probably well known and maybe not too hard to solve? Hopefully. I will include some few screen captures, just so you can get a look at what Everest shows, and also the Device Manager. Here´s hoping it can assist you in assisting me to solve this problem. Thanks in advance!

Paul_Tikkanen: Thank you for your super fast reply to my post!
I´m following the instructions in your reply, but there´s been a setback, I´m afraid. After Step 2 (the Catalyst installation -AMD drivers) I can only enter Windows in Safe Mode / SM with network access). Otherwise the PC just reboots over and over. Haven´t downloaded anything else, and would rather wait for your reply. Thank you!

You're very welcome.
I guess you should uninstall that driver in safe mode then.
Maybe I gave you the wrong driver.
Please post the product number of your notebook.
The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.
Do not post the serial number.

Alright! I did attempt at uninstalling those drivers, but there was this message warning that I would erase ALL AMD related drivers, and... well, I didn't proceed with that idea. I guess it would be safe to do the express uninstall, then? By the way, the product number should be: X16-96084.

Yes, I would express uninstall everything.
That is not the product number of your notebook. That is a Windows product number.
Please use this guide to find the product number of your notebook.

ok, sorry for the delay.. Had to perform a System Restore, to a state previous to the installation of the AMD drivers. All is back to square 1, Windows works in normal mode, and Step 1 in your guide has already been performed. Now, I think I finally found the Product Number -on the back of battery: B5M66LAR#ABM

OK...
Your notebook is a HP PAVILION G4-2082LA NOTEBOOK PC.
Here is the support and driver page for it...
I already gave you the one graphics driver from the support page, which is causing issues.
See if this one works instead...

Paul_Tikkanen: Thank You! I haven't tried that last bit of advice, yet (the corrected driver info), but sure will -a bit too stressed out to get on that right away, really. Although, for now, I could say that this post´s original goal has been achieved, and the "NO WI-FI" PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED, thanks to you! While awaiting in between our messages, I decided to go on and install the wi-fi link as provided by you, and that did it for the connection issues. Wi-Fi is now up and running.
Now, I´m not sure if, perhaps, you should modify the original response, with the "bad" AMD driver selection, before I mark that post as the SOLUTION (?). Really a noob here, so I´m not sure. But in respect to the original problem, that post does contain the solution to my notebook's connectivity problem, so I´d be more than happy to accept it as solution, give it kuddos, oscars and people´s choice awards!
At some point the system did try to install a big update on Windows, and that ended up in error / reverting changes. But I turned off aut-updates, and all is working fine (and anyways, that would make a good subject for another query, probably).
Again, thank you! And for a first experience on this forum, I must say, I got support in a flash, and am so pleasantly surprised! Thanks again, and let me know if I should already declare the problem solved. Cheers!
