Every HP Elitebook 840 G5 has a SIM card slot.
What 90% of them don't have is the optional WWAN adapter that is needed to connect to a cellular network.
All the SIM card does is authorize you to connect to your specific cellular provider's network.
Looking at your notebook's screen shot, your notebook does not have the WWAN adapter needed to connect to a cellular network.
You should be seeing a HP lt4132 WWAN adapter or an Intel XMM 7360 WWAN adapter listed with the other Network adapters.
