Hi @Mickay24a,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you have an HP Chromebook 11a that you converted to a Windows 10 device, and then to an Android x86_64 emulator. Now, your device only has the Android emulator running, and you are facing WiFi and USB tethering issues. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and attempt to repair the drivers using the UEFI shell.

Steps to Repair WiFi Driver Using UEFI Shell

Access the UEFI Shell:

  • Power on your Chromebook and enter the UEFI/BIOS setup. This can usually be done by pressing a specific key (like F2, F10, ESC, or DEL) during startup.
  • Navigate to the option to launch the UEFI Shell.

Identify Network Adapter:

  • In the UEFI Shell, identify the network adapter by listing the PCI devices:

pci -i

  • Look for an entry related to your WiFi adapter (usually something like "Network Controller").

Check and Load Drivers:

  • If you have drivers for your WiFi adapter stored on an accessible USB drive or another partition, you can attempt to load them manually.
  • Use the map command to list all available devices and locate your USB drive or partition:

map -r

  • Navigate to the directory where your drivers are stored using fsX: where X is the identifier of your USB drive or partition.

fs0:

ls

  • Load the driver (you might need an EFI driver for your specific WiFi adapter).

Reinstall Android x86:

  • If manual driver loading doesn’t work, consider reinstalling Android x86. This time, ensure you have the appropriate drivers included.
  • Download the latest Android x86 image and create a bootable USB drive with it.
  • Boot from the USB drive and follow the installation instructions, ensuring you select the option to install the required drivers.

Alternative Method - Use Recovery Tools:

  • If you have a recovery USB for your Chromebook, you can use it to restore the original Chrome OS, then proceed to reinstall Windows or Android x86.
  • To create a recovery USB, you can use another computer and follow the instructions from the HP Chromebook Recovery Utility.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, you might need to use another computer to download the necessary drivers or recovery images and then transfer them to your Chromebook.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
