Hi

Just as an aside..

https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB2310138

Does not match your description.

However...

Description: Install this update to revise the definition files that are used to detect viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.
Architecture: n/a
Classification: Definition Updates
Supported products: MS Security Essentials
Supported languages: all

So perhaps try another Anti-Virus, I use Bit Defender and then Remove the MS one.

This may remove the blockage.

Hello Blue.  I must say, I’m a little dismayed that the update that posted to my computer cannot be found in image.jpgthe catalog. Not that I didn’t believe you, but I did search it up for myself, and was not able to find that update. However, the information I provided, came directly from the screen updates on my computer.

image.jpgI did Delete MS security successfully from the computer. I did a restart, however, I still could not connect to the Internet. I did a command prompt similar to the one you had pictured, and this is my result, keeping in mind I do not have a Bluetooth on this computer.image.jpgI then went into the device manager, and opened the network adapters. This is what comes up with drivers still hidden.image.jpgI then clicked on hidden devices and this is what came up.

I tried to do a restore on the computer again, however, I again got the same message indicating that a restore could not be done because of antivirus software open. I don’t understand how that’s possible, since I deleted MS security, deleted a trial of two other anti-virus scanners that were expired, as well as deleting a free one that I have currently been using. I do understand that we are not supposed to provide any personal information, however, I am giving you the product name serial number etc. for my laptop.

My apologies, as you can see I’m not a computer whiz, as evidenced by the fact that all of the pictures are in the wrong order. However I’m sure you can figure out what the order should be. At this point, I don’t know what else to do. The F 12 button does not have an airplane mode as far as I can tell. I believe I’ve looked pretty much  everywhere that I could, and have not seen any setting for airplane. If you have any additional suggestions, I would be grateful for the help. However, if you don’t believe that you can help me fix this,  then my only other option would be to take the computer in for servicing, which I would rather not do if I can avoid it.

I’ve also attached a screenshot of the update screen, indicating the update that Caused all the problems. As well I have shown the details of that update.

image.jpgI look forward to hearing from you very soon, and hopefully with a successful solution to my problem. Believe me, you have no idea how incredibly grateful I am for the help that I have received so far. Again, thank you for your support and all your help.

Hi

I believe the updates happened.

I see a Realtek PCI family adapter for Ethernet wired connections.

Hi

Can we establish the exact model please, SKU etc again.

Then if that doesn't help, I feel it is beyond my remote capabilities.

HP Recommended
A SKU is a store specific number and would only be valid at the store where it is being sold it would not be universal.

A serial number is a sequential number that is assigned to a single item of a product. The serial number will only be for that one single item. It is there so you can track ownership and warranty information of that item. Serial numbers are common with electronic products.

Im a bit Confused regarding the SKU. Based on the above information, there would be no SKU for this laptop, and I believe I did provide the model and make previously. I have run the MSinfo 32 line 9 again as previously instructed, and here is a screenshot of the information that Popped up.

image.jpg
The next screenshot is what pops up after the small pop-up box is closed, the one that says the system can’t be found.

image.jpgimage.jpg
image.jpg The final screenshot is inside the battery compartment of the computer, which provides product information as well as the what  looks like a stock number.  And once again the Screenshots are mixed up.

I appreciate all the help you have given me to date, and if you are unable to find a solution, I totally understand, however I will give a positive review on the website. Again thank you for your help! image.jpg
Sorry, this last screenshot was an afterthought. It has the system information, the serial number, BIOS etc. Hope this helps.

image.jpghi, blue. I did refer to the instructions you provided, and did locate  The adapter V9, and deleted it.  I was still unable to connect to the Internet, and I did follow these steps in the instructions. I did do the command prompt with the get Mac, and yesterday there were two physical addresses with one indicating it wasn’t connected. Today, there is only one physical address showing.  I also went to the link you provided for finding the SKU or product number, and ran two separate searches, with both coming up saying information was unavailable. I then did the F +esc and the system information window popped up, with the attached information.  I’m not sure what exactly is wrong with this laptop, but it seems to be missing vital information. At this point the only thing I can do is a thank you for all your efforts, and take the darn thing in and have it looked at! The other option would be to throw it through a window from a 10 story building! At this point, the latter option is the one I’m leaning towards.

once again, thank you very much for all of your help and efforts in getting my system up and running. With all of the information you provided to me, I’m sure anyone who has this issue will be able to rectify it using the steps you provided. Unfortunately, this particular laptop is just not cooperating.  I’m going to wait until tomorrow, at which point I will tag that the solution is excepted or a solution has been found. If you do have any comments for me, I would be very happy to hear them. Thank you again!

Hello, again. I was re-reading some of the instructions you provided, and based on hp docs, the SKU and the product number are the same thing. I provided that information a couple of posts back in a screen shot from the HP Support Assistant. In any event, the product number is LW354UA#ABA. The serial number is [edited]. Hope this helps.

Hello, and sorry for the delay responding. I tried everything from your last post, and unfortunately, nothing worked. I should mention that I have a PC, not HP, that was not internet ready, and I do have a USB plug-in for it. I tried that on the laptop as well, and that would not connect either, although it DOES work on the PC. I have now made arrangements to take it in and have it looked at by a computer tech.

Thank-you for all you help. It has neen greatly appreciated!!
