Hi my HP laptop product number is Z4L85UA#ABA

For some reason 5ghz WiFi networks are not showing up and I know that it is not a problem with the network because I am connecting to it on my other devices.

Does my model come with a WiFi chip that has the ability to connect to a 5ghz wifi? If it does what can possibly be the problem why it won’t show any 5ghz WiFi networks and what can I do to fix it?? The WiFi chip model is Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn WiFi Adaptor. The driver version is 2023.58.731.2017

I hope I gave you enough info to answer the question.

Thanks in advance.

Your notebook came with Realtek RTL8723BE-VB 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combination WLAN adapter card. It doesn't support 5GHz band.

You can buy dual band WLAN+Bluetooth combo card for upgrading to 2.4GHz+5GHz wireless bands, provided your laptop has 2 antennas build in under the display bezels, board upto WLAN card already in it.

Open it up and check if there are 2 antennas attached to WLAN card at present?

This is the card you need:
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo : 806723-005

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter : 863934-855

If there is only 1 antenna, easiest and cheapest way to get dual band is to get this:
