@Endofile,

Good day. Thank you for stopping by the Hp support forums. I read your post and understand that you are visiting us for support again. I will be more than happy to assist you. Excellent troubleshooting and terrific analysis of the issue Kudos to you for that.

  • How many computers are connected to the printer on the network?
  • Did you try changing your Ethernet cable and check again?
  • What are you trying to print?
  • Did this happen after a recent power outage or surge?
  • Did you try printing from multiple apps and check again?
  • Did you run HP print and scan doctor and check?
  • Please share an image or screenshot of the exact situation that you see any one of the computers or the error message that you receive?

Please furnish the requested information for me to assist you correctly.

Thanks and have a blessed week ahead.

I had comcast internet, a motorola modem and linksys router. Everything worked.

Switched to CenturyLink with their modem/router. everything worked EXCEPT I can't print via ethernet connection from any of the three computers to the HP P1606. Deleting the printer results in inability to reinstall it. Even in that state, I can still print to it from my iPhone. Everything else on the network talks to each other. and I can print to another HP printer via a wifi connection  from the same modem/router. I can also print to the P1606 from my iPhone (WIFI to the modem router then ethernet to theP1606.

Spent 10 hours over two days with a centurylink techand learned nothing. Then I called century link to see if I could get a replacement modem. BUT firest they want to know the port number of the Printer P1606 to the modemrouter.

I think they know something but won't share and I can't find a source to get this port number from.
