Hi there, since yesterday, the WIFI is not working on my Laptop. From what  can tell, the WIFI DRIVER is faulty. I think I need to reinstall it. BUT: I don't have a LAN port on my laptop or any way to connect to the internet. This is very frustrating. What can I do? Any experts out there 🙂

Hi @Jens_G1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • What is the exact model number of your HP laptop?
  • Did the Wi-Fi stop working after a Windows update, driver update, or suddenly without warning?
  • Do you see the Wi-Fi adapter listed in Device Manager > Network Adapters, or is it missing entirely?
  • Do you have access to another computer or phone with internet that could help download drivers onto a USB stick?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Device Manager:
    • Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
    • Expand Network Adapters and look for your Wi-Fi card.
    • If it shows with a yellow exclamation mark, right-click → Uninstall device. Restart your laptop and Windows should attempt to reinstall it automatically.
  2. Enable Wi-Fi in BIOS:
    • Restart your laptop and press Esc → then F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
    • Ensure the wireless device is enabled.
  3. Use HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Restart and press Esc → then F2.
    • Run the Network Test to confirm if the Wi-Fi hardware is detected.
  4. Driver Reinstallation (Offline Method):
  5. Check Airplane Mode / Wireless Key:
  • Ensure Airplane Mode is off.
  • Some HP laptops have a dedicated wireless key or function key (Fn + F12) to toggle Wi-Fi.

I hope this helps.
