Pavilion 15-e005tx Notebook PC Wifi Card upgrade (existing Ralink RT3290 is failing)

Hello all,

 I want to replace the WIFI module (Ralink RT3290) in my HP Pavilion 15-e005tx with a better duel band version version.

The existing Ralink RT3290 is rubbish, single band and is no longer connecting to the router (successive Windows 10 updates seem to have disabled it), I have the latest drivers and it still will not work properly!

I have two antennas

Which of the following Wi-Fi/Bluetooth models will suit my laptop as a upgrade?

The BroadCom BCM4352 BCM94352HMB Half Mini PCIe PCI-express Wireless WIFI WLAN BT Bluetooth Card 802.11AC 867Mhz part HP# 724935-001

Or the,

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

also is my bios on on the white list?

Hi, Richard:

Your notebook does not have a BIOS whitelist.

Since your notebook has an Intel core processor, go with the Intel 7260 AC wifi card.

It has newer driver support than the Broadcom card...supported into 2019, where Broadcom quit supporting the 4352 in 2016.

It is also generally cheaper to buy.  I got mine on eBay for less than $20 delivered.

Before installing the Intel card, go to the Windows control panel>programs>uninstall a program.

If there is any Ralink bluetooth software listed there, uninstall it.

Then go to the device manager, uninstall the Ralink bluetooth adapter under the Bluetooth adapters device manager category and check the uninstall driver box.

Do the same thing for the Ralink wifi adapter under the Network Adapters device manager category.

Then shut down, unplug the PC, remove the battery and install the wifi card.
