HP Pavilion 17-e064sr
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi everyone. I wanna upgrade the wireless wlan module. I have an HP Pavilion 17-e064sr with BIOS F.24 11/19/2014 and original Ralink RT3290 wifi card.  Maintenance and Service Guide

7-gOPfamwSg

I opened service manual WLAN module part and saw that my laptop supports adapters only with 802.11b/g/n standard. Like this Intel Wireless-N 7260BN 802.11b/g/n 2×2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter (Spare part number: 717384-001)

But I prefer to replace Intel AC 7260 Plus Bluetooth 7260HMW AN that support 802.11ac standard (I think this HP Part #710661-001)

Does anyone know if this product will any work? Do I have to worry about a whitelist on the BIOS? I hope you can help me.

You should be fine.

There are a few members with the 15-e### models that installed that card and it worked fine.

Yours just has the bigger display.

Hi:

I can't find any specs on your notebook, but if it has an Intel core processor, then the Intel 7260 AC wifi card with HP part number 710661-001 should work just fine.

i7-3632QM inside. I bought a laptop at the end of 2013 year or beginning of 2014. Is 2013 borderline where whitelist was dropped?

many thanks!

Yesterday I received Intel 7260ac and replaced wifi card. It is regular Chines card by brand “fenvi” without HP Part number. And it worked! I was able to connect to the Internet with older drivers. The Intel Driver & Support Assistant  updated drivers up-to-date. So I paired Jabra wireless mono headset  and  some noname bluetooth headphones to my HP Pavilion. I even tested WiDi  for interacting to the TV from a PC. When l'd upgrade my router to 5Ghz, I will enjoy my faster wireless connection speeds.

There is my example Before/After.

You're very welcome.

Thanks for letting us know how your wifi card upgrade went.

Enjoy the even faster wifi speeds once you can connect to the 5.0 GHz wifi band!
