If the driver didn't update, your notebook's wifi adapter has the latest version of the driver supported by the wifi adapter's hardware revision. 

 

There are hundreds of HP g6 notebooks.

 

Using the guide I posted, I would need to know the exact model of your g6.

My girl just said "don't bother". I don't know what she will do, but for now, I'm going to stop. For the last couple of hours, it has run wireless on a chair beside the desk where my computers and router are, seems fine.
