Hi @Dave1062,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy laptop is not connecting to WiFi and the wireless indicator (often represented by an "I" button) is lit, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Wireless Connection:
- Ensure that the WiFi is turned on. Some laptops have a physical switch or button to enable/disable wireless connections.
- Look for a key or switch on your laptop that has a wireless symbol (often looks like a tower with radio waves) and make sure it is turned on.
Flight Mode:
- Check if your laptop is in "Flight Mode" or "Airplane Mode." If it is, disable it as it turns off all wireless connections.
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your HP Envy and see if it can connect to WiFi after the reboot.
Check WiFi Settings:
- Go to the network settings on your laptop and make sure WiFi is enabled.
- Ensure that your laptop is trying to connect to the correct WiFi network.
Update Wireless Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupt wireless drivers can cause connectivity issues. Update your wireless drivers to the latest version. You can usually do this through the device manager or by visiting the HP support website.
Disable and Enable WiFi:
- Disable the WiFi adapter in your laptop's network settings, wait for a few seconds, and then enable it again.
Reset Network Settings:
- Resetting network settings can often help. You can do this by going to the network settings on your laptop and choosing the option to reset network settings.
Check Router Settings:
- Make sure there are no issues with your WiFi router. Check if other devices can connect to the WiFi network.
- Restart your router. Unplug it, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
Run Network Troubleshooter:
- Use the built-in network troubleshooter on your operating system to diagnose and fix network problems.
Check for Interference:
- Other electronic devices or networks in the vicinity may interfere with your WiFi signal. Try changing the WiFi channel on your router to reduce interference.
Update Operating System:
- Make sure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest updates and patches.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
