OK, I lied.  I found a couple of other things I am not sure about.  In device Manager, there are two things that appear to be issues. 1.) Other devices, Base System Device says driver is not installed

2.) In System Devices, HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor gives this issue:

😊

The first one is easy...that is the card reader that needs a driver.

The second one may not be so easy to fix if it can be fixed at all.

The first thing to try that has worked for several other forum members with the 3D driveguard hardware version your notebook has, is this...

1. Uninstall the Mobile Data Protection sensor and driver in the device manager.  Right click on it, select Uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.  Then restart the PC

2.  Download and save this driver, but do not run it.

This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard protects the hard drive by "parking the heads" if the notebook is accidentally dropped or is abruptly impacted by another object.

3. Download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd file at the top of the page is for 64 bit.

https://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-Zip, right click on the driver file you saved.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp58201).

Once that is done, go to the device manager, click on the unknown device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

OK.  Two issues with the driver update.

After the uninstall of the driver and the reboot, the device  came back,  I was unable to update the driver - said that the driver was already installed.

I then uninstalled the driver again but did not reboot.  I scanned for new hardware and it came back with an Unknown device.  I received this error:

Additionally, do I really care about this device?  Does it matter if I have an unknown device in the list?  I have upgraded to an SSD in this machine.

If you installed a SSD you don't need it.

Just for fun, try this driver instead.  If it doesn't work, forget about it.

No luck - got this:

Guess I will not worry about it.  Thank you for your persistence!

Anytime.

You don't need it, but it is frustrating when you can't get devices to install.

I gave it my best shot.

Please post back and let us know how your wifi card upgrade went.

I have ordered, received, and installed a replacement WiFi/Bluetooth card.  Unfortunately, what I ordered (part number 730668-001) was not what I received (part number 666914-001).  I see in your comments in a previous post about the specifications of the 666914-001 that the part does have Bluetooth capability.  At this point, the laptop has not recognized that Bluetooth capability.  In fact, the device that appears in the Device Manager list says it is an Intel 82579V, not Broadcom.

1. Is there something that I need to do to get this card to work with the Bluetooth?

2. Should I request a return/exchange for the 730668-001?

Hi:

Is the Broadcom wifi card showing up in the device manager, or isn't the wifi working either?

The Intel 82579V is the ethernet adapter, not the wireless one.

The 666914-001 definitely has BT, because my HP 350 G1 notebook originally came with that card and I replaced it with the Intel 7260 AC one.

It is possible the notebook has a whitelist which will not allow different cards to work.

The Broadcom WiFi card does show up in the Device Manager as an Intel 82579V and the WiFi is working as I type this.  Looks like I should opt for a replacement/refund and get the 730668-001.

Go into the BIOS and look to see if there is a bluetooth adapter showing up and present and enabled/disabled.

If there isn't I don't think any combo wifi/bluetooth card will work.
