When I turn on the PC's Mobile Hotspot and connect other devices to it on wifi, the PC effectively freezes and becomes unuseable. HP-17-cn0524na running Windows 10 21H2. PC was bought new 6 months ago, and this problem first arose yesterday.

Hello PhilGJ,
(1) Update BIOS
HP Firmware Pack (Intel Processors) | F.30 Rev.A | 9.4 MB | Mar 22, 2022 | Download |
(2) Install and run Support Assistant to update all drivers in one place ...
HP Support Assistant | 9.6.870.0 / 8.8.34.31 Rev.A | 175.9 MB | Dec 9, 2020 | Download |
Test again ...
Please report your results.
best regards

This reply did not help, unfortunately. The BIOS update was halted with the message "This BIOS update is blocked on this device." The HP Support Assistant installation was blocked with the message that a newer version of the Support Assistant was already installed. I have run the "Software and Drivers" check in the HP Support Assistant, which confirms that all drivers are up to date. So to clarify, the PC runs well until I turn Mobile Hotspot on. At this point, the Applications which require internet access (eg mail client, browsers) fail to load or, if already open, freeze and become unresponsive.
