HP EliteBook 830 G8 Notebook PC (19C72AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have an EliteBook 830 G8 and I bought a second-hand WWAN card for it. When I plug in the card, connect the wires and boot up, the boot takes longer than usually but once I get to Windows the adapter is not recognized, not visible in any menu or device manager either. Also BIOS shows no indication of said card whatsoever, neither BIOS Log. The computer has the slot for it plus the antenna wires and a SIM tray, so it definitely should be possible to add LTE capability into it. The card I bought was from an older HP EliteBook, and while it doesn't seem to have a manufacturer/model it does have a HP P/N (796927-001) of which Google gives the following result: "HP LT4120 SNAPDRAGON X5 LTE T77W595 796927-001 4G WWAN M.2 MODEM"

I know it is not the "official" card model that is stated in the manual for this particular laptop, but shouldn't it work nonetheless? Or has HP gone and approve only Whitelisted cards nowadays? It was a problem with Lenovo ThinkPads back in the day, which is one reason I wanted to go EliteBook this time.

Hello

the supported and recognized by the BIOS WWAN cards are only these :

Intel® XMM™ 7360 LTE-Advanced Cat  (it's possible to install it like you did)

Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X55 5G ModemCat (this is installable in factory Only)

you can't use HP LT4120 SNAPDRAGON X5 LTE , as it's not supported bt BIOS.

bye

Really? Oh **bleep**, this is 100% sure? Since the Intel® XMM™ 7360 LTE-Advanced Cat costs 199€ while a second-hand cards are only 20-40€ usually. Gonna have to rethink adding one then..
