Hello

Wondering if anyone can help me...it's a bit of a weird one 🙂

Ok so recently it seems my wifi is disconnecting but not showing it properly...let me explain...I will trying to load up a page and instead of a blue circle at the top its grey and then says can't find server or no internet...but at the bottom where the wifi signal is it is at full strength...I then have to disconnect then connect instantly and it works again...this can happen several times in a few minutes especially on an evening.

At first I thought it might be the internet connection but we have a brand new router and it works perfectly on other devices.

It's getting pretty annoying now..I have made sure everything is up to date but nothing is helping..last night it keep disconnecting every few minutes and like i said all i have i have to do is disconnection and reconnect and it works instantly again!

Anyone got any idea what is happening please (hope i've explained ok)

Thank you

Hi:

What model wifi adapter does your notebook have?

If you don't know, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, and there you will find the name and model number of the wireless network adapter.

Hi

The model is Intel (R)Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165

Thank you

You're very welcome.

The only suggestion I can offer regarding that adapter, would be to see if updating the wifi driver to the latest version and restarting the PC, resolves the issue.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28876/Windows-10-Wi-Fi-Drivers-for-Intel-Wireless-Adapters...

If that doesn't help, or you have already done that, please let me know the full model number or product number of your notebook.

The product number can be found on the same label as the serial number.

Please do not post the serial number.

Sorry that didn't work.

It's possible the wifi card is defective and needs to be replaced.

I would suggest replacing the Intel 3165 with the better Intel 7265 that is listed in chapter 3 on page 26 of the service manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04642845

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter (non vPRO)   HP part # 784644-005.

It is not a particularly easy job to do however.  You can look at the wifi card R & R procedure in chapter 6.

Otherwise, you may have to resort to using an external USB wifi adapter.

Thank  you for all your help...looked into the replacement too complicated for me so going to buy the external adaptor for now till I find someone to replace it...I did think it might be the wifi card but wasn't sure so will give the external one a go and see how that goes 🙂

Thank you
