Thanks for the reply.  I did try that, but to no avail. Of course, very awkward without the mouse / touchpad.  I'm not sure where i've gone wrong. Just getting someone to look at it currently

You are going to have to tell us the model of the computer or product number and maybe describe the big problem a little more.

Hi, yes sorry,  It is a HP probook 4540s Notebook PC.  Product no is D7XS1Pa.

It is just the touchpad and mouse not working, The keyboard is fine.  I know it is to do with a couple of updates i did earlier today for my mother on her laptop.

Thanks again.  I may not respond for a little while as i'm on Melbourne , Australia time. So grabbing some sleep shortly.

Kind regards,

David

What is showing for keyboard and mouse in the device manager? I just had a weird thing happen to me where apparently some kind of malware caused an unknown device to appear in device manager and the keyboard and touchpad appeared as not having a driver. I did a deep malware scan with Malwarebytes ADWCleaner, rebooted and all was good again.
