Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

Windows Update keeps telling me there is an update for my Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc. - Network - Qualcomm Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter.  But it keeps erroring and I cannot find a fix for it.  My current driver is 9.2.0.310.  I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64-bit.

Does anyone have any suggestions/solutions?  Do I even need to be concerned with updating the driver?  I am having no connectivity issues currently, but obviously want to avoid them down the road.  I do lose connection every now and then for a moment, but it always resolves itself within minutes so I'm not really sure that's even related to the network adapter...perhaps moreso with my ISP or router.

Any thoughts, suggestions, and/or solutions are greatly appreciated.

TIA

You're very welcome.

OK, let me give you the equivalent HP driver for that one...it is actually newer...

This package contains the driver installation package for the Qualcomm Atheros AR9000 Series wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp61001-61500/sp61411.exe

If that one installs, you shouldn't get the update notification anymore.

If the updated driver doesn't work and/or you still get the Windows update notification, right click on the update, select Hide update, and you won't be bothered with it again.

Then stay with the driver I first posted if the HP driver sp61411 fails to install.

Hi:

Actually, I would like to give you an even newer driver than the one you have installed.

9.2.0.444   Sep 14, 2011

I recommend you update to this version.

Hi Paul,

Thank you!  The driver installed without issue.

However, Windows Update is still telling me that an update to the network adapter(published 07/04/2012) is available.  Would you suggest I stay with the one you posted, or should I run the update?

Thanks for the help!
