HP Laptop 17-ak0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently bought a new laptop for myself (HP Laptop 17-ak0xx), and noticed that it did not have integrated Bluetooth as described. I'd really like to move away from having to use a dongle to access my Bluetooth mouse and other peripherals (ex. headset).

Was wondering if it's possible to install a combination Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combination WLAN adapter and install it myself? If so, what is the best one to purchase?

Product: HP 17-ak0xx

Product number: 1DK01AAR

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (Version: 18362.535)

ALSO: Does my laptop also have a slot for a solid state drive (SSD). Wanted to give my laptop a bit more hard drive capacity without switching out the current SATA drive inside.

Thanks for any/all who can assist!

Hi:

What model wifi adapter does your PC currently have?

My guess is that since you wrote that it didn't come with Bluetooth, it must have a Realtek RTL8188EE wifi adapter.

If that is what your notebook has, you can upgrade to this dual band AC wifi adapter with Bluetooth...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

The only place I have been able to find this model is on eBay.

The card has the same throughput as the 8188EE on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router, it has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

According to chapter 1 of the service manual, under the hard drives section, your notebook has a M.2 slot for a SATA SSD only, not NVMe.
