Hello ,
I am using hp pavilion 15n 216 se , with win 8.1 64bit. It has Ralink RT 3290 wireless lan card. The problem is i am not able to connect to 5GHz band . I tried searching option in device manage to connect to 5GHz band but its invane as RT 3290 bgn doent support 5GHZ band . So am i missing some thing here?
Also the data transfer speed is extremely low using this card.
I am considering replacing this card with some thing else , probably the one whcih supports abgn and ac as well and bt4.0 or hingher. Is there any perticular replacement that you can suggest for my laptop?
Thanks

I believe your machine is an HP pavilion 15-n216se, not HP pavilion 15n- 216se. Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04077152
It only has 802.11b/g/n (1x1) and Bluetooth 4.0 combo wireless card and this card simply does NOT support 5.0GHz. Your machine was built around the first half of 2014 therefore replacing wireless card to new 5.0GHz card could be impossible.
If you wish to use 5.0GHz network, please try one of the following options
