HP Pavilion 15-n250ez Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello HP Community:

I have an HP Pavilion 15-n250ez Notebook PC with Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

The Control Panel - Devices and Printers - service has shown an issue on my Desktop.

The troubleshoot diagnostic display the following information:

Ralink Bluetooth PCIe Adapter has a driver problem

I assume this issue is related to Bluetooth as the driver is about Bluetooth.

I don't know whether this issue has also an impact on my Wi-Fi connexion as my Wi-Fi connexion is unstable and I have to troubleshoot quite often the network to restore the connexion.

Thank you so much for your help and best regards,

Lan CH - 240118

You're very welcome, Lan.

The non-working Bluetooth driver has no bearing on the WI-FI's performance but you may experience the same problem with the Wi-Fi down the road.

On some notebooks with that adapter, both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth quit working.

Anyway, here are two upgrade options for your notebook since it has an Intel processor:

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP part # 710661-001

Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo  HP part # 724935-001

You can usually find either one of these Wi-Fi adapters on eBay.

Search by the HP part number.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure.

See chapter 5, pages 44 & 45.  The hardest part of the procedure is to remove and reconnect the antenna wires, and the whole process normally takes 5 to 10 minutes at most.

Don't forget to unplug the PC from the A/C adapter and remove the battery before working inside of it.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is no fix to get the Ralink Bluetooth to work on the newer builds of W10.

You can try reinstalling the only driver that HP has for the Bluetooth adapter, but it is doubtful that will work.

It's pretty easy to replace/upgrade the Ralink Wi-Fi card to a better model that is also dual band AC.

If you want to do that, let me know what model processor your notebook has, because that matters as to what wifi card(s) you can install.

Thank you very much Paul for your inputs!

If I understand you correctly, the solution should be in the replacement or update of the Ralink Wi-Fi card.

As I am a little bit ignorant on this matter, I don't think I am able to perform this task. I should ask someone else to help there.

By the way, my PC processor is: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz 2.40 GHz

Do you think this problem on the Ralink driver has an impact on my Wi-Fi connexion instability, as I mentioned previously?

Thank you again Paul for sharing your experience.
