Pavilion g6 notebook
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am looking to change out the wifi card inside my HP Pavilion g6 notebook. I think I've had this notebook for about 5 years or so, and the wifi card has finally quit working.

My notebook is model g6-1d57nr. On the front side of the wifi card it says:

Ralink RT5390

Rev: 2.00 SPS: 630703-001

Then there are some barcodes and more numbers on the back of the card... I just don't know what I should look for in a replacement card to make sure that it will work in my notebook. I haven't come across one that shows my particular model in their compatible list of models.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Tim

Your laptop does have the whitelist so the easiest thing to do is replace it with a like-kind adapter as in the link I gave.

Do you need help with physical replacement? In a nutshell there is an access panel on the back...open it and just replace the card. The driver will be the same and you should just be back up and running.
