Hi @tap98,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for following up. Since you're experiencing a similar Bluetooth issue but on your own system, we'd like to gather a few more details before recommending additional troubleshooting.

Please provide:

  • The exact HP laptop model number.
  • Your Windows version and build (Windows 10 or Windows 11).
  • The Bluetooth adapter listed in Device Manager (Intel, Realtek, MediaTek, etc.).
  • Whether Bluetooth disappears completely, shows an error, or simply stops connecting when the issue occurs.
  • Whether Wi-Fi continues to work normally when Bluetooth fails.
  • Whether the issue occurs after Sleep/Hibernate or during normal use.
  • The Bluetooth devices affected (headset, mouse, keyboard, controller, etc.).
  • Any recent BIOS, Windows, or driver updates performed before the issue started.

When Bluetooth stops working, please also let us know:

  • Does a normal restart restore functionality, or is a hard shutdown required?
  • Does toggling Airplane Mode help?
  • Are there any error messages shown in Device Manager?
  • Have you noticed if the issue occurs after a specific amount of uptime or while running certain applications?

The cause could range from a Bluetooth driver issue or power management behavior to a wireless adapter or BIOS-related problem. Once we have the exact PC details and the information above, we'll be in a much better position to identify the likely cause and guide you toward the most appropriate solution.

We look forward to your update.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.

Model: Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0xxx
System SKU: 820G4EA#ABD

Windows: Windows 11 Version 25H2, OS Build 26200.8973

Bluetooth adapter: MediaTek Bluetooth Adapter
Wi-Fi adapter: MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax PCIe Adapter

Current Bluetooth driver: MediaTek Inc. — Version 1.3.17.168, dated 22/01/2026.

What happens when Bluetooth fails: Bluetooth completely disappears from Windows Quick Settings, and the Bluetooth on/off switch also disappears from Windows Bluetooth Settings. The Bluetooth devices may still appear as connected, but they stop functioning.

Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi continues to work normally when Bluetooth fails.

Sleep/Hibernate: The problem has occurred both during normal continuous use and after the laptop has been in Sleep mode. It is therefore not limited to one particular power state.

Affected devices: Bluetooth headphones and Bluetooth mouse.

Frequency: The problem occurs approximately 2–7 hours after use, typically around 4–5 hours.

Recovery: A normal Windows restart does not restore Bluetooth. A complete power-off by holding the physical power button for approximately 10 seconds, followed by turning the laptop back on, does restore Bluetooth.

Device Manager error: When the problem occurs, MediaTek Bluetooth Adapter shows Code 43 — "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems."

When the issue started: Around 29 June 2026.

Recent updates: My Windows Update history shows a Windows 11 Preview Update (KB5095093, Build 26200.8737) installed on 25 June 2026, approximately four days before the issue began. A MediaTek Bluetooth driver update (1.3.17.162) and HP Firmware update (15.31.0.0) were subsequently installed on 15 July 2026, after the issue had already started. Later Windows updates were installed on July 19 and July 30.
One thing to note is that:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/Bluetooth/td-p/9679646?utm
I basically have the same problem as mentioned in  this blog  and the solution given by Paul_Tikkanen helped ( i installed his recommened driver on 15 /07/26  (MediaTek Bluetooth Driver sp172694.exe) this had helped the lot and only because if the the bluetooth works for 4 to 5 hrs before this it used to stop working withing 2hrs of use.

The most unusual aspect is that a normal Windows restart does not recover the Bluetooth adapter. Only a complete power-off/hard shutdown and subsequent boot restores it. When it fails, the Bluetooth option disappears completely and Device Manager reports Code 43, while the MT7921 Wi-Fi adapter continues to work normally.
