Hi @muneeb9752,

Good Day. Thank you for taking an interest in the HP community. I understand that the computer has Wi-Fi connectivity issues after a windows 10 upgrade since drivers are not available. I will be really glad to assist you here. :

Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this:

  • Please share the complete model# and prodcut# of the computer to assist you better.
  • Did you check with a hardwired Ethernet cable to see if it goes online on a wired connection?

For a start please try these steps:

  • First, check if the computer connects using a hardwired Ethernet cable on a wired connection

If it does please perform these steps:

First, check on http://hp.care/2syreDe if the computer has drivers available for Windows 10.

If Windows 8 or 8.1 drivers are listed they should also work with Windows 10.

If no drivers other than those for  Windows 7 are listed, then there is nothing much that can be done as HP has not tested this computer with Windows 10.

If it had tested this computer with Windows 10, then there would be updated Windows 10 drivers for the computer available on the HP support site.

Let me repeat myself again, even if Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 network drivers are available, then they should work with Windows 10. Then you could follow the steps mentioned below.

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand Network adapters>then select the network drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that says delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the wireless network drivers from this link: http://hp.care/2syreDe and follow the on-screen instructions through the hardwired Ethernet cable connection.
  • Please select the country and type the product# of the computer. Then follow the on-screen instructions to update the network drivers.

If it still doesn't work, A great workaround would be is to buy a USB wireless dongle from Best Buy or Staples or from Amazon or e-bay and plug it to one of the USB ports of the computer. Then connect it to the router to go online. It is very economical and cost-effective and can be ordered for a song.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient. Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

Hi. I am having the very same problem, and did all that you listed below. Plus other stuff that Costco Concierge had me try.

Can you suggest any other ways to get a software update for this adapter? I have been trying and trying, and nobody seems to be able to help.

I read online that all that is needed is an updated driver for this. But there is not one on HP, or Intel, or Realtek, that I can find.

Could the computer need a BIOS update? I saw that listed as well, but it said to turn BitLocker off first, and I don't have BitLocker listed to turn off.

Thanks,

Caroline

Hi Caroline,

I saw your message in the older topic but before I could respond a moderator closed it.  Regrettably, I no longer have that dv6 laptop any longer, so I don't have the updated software driver file to provide.  I visited the RealTek site and while they still have an entry for the RTL8188CE, nothing shows up there.   When I searched downloads for "RTL8188CE", only RTL8188SU comes up but that link has an empty page as well.  It's peculiar.

However, Microsoft's update catalog site has an entry for this:  RTL8188CE Windows 10.  There are several entries for it, so it may be worth trying the latest and then work your way back.

BTW, if you haven't updated your BIOS it would be good idea to do so.

Regards,

Gary

1- first you have to download the driver from the official website for realtek rtl8188ce 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter.

2: Start the driver installation file from a Windows account with administrative rights. If user access control (UAC) is enabled, you will need to accept the driver and perform the configuration with administrative rights.

3- Go through the driver configuration wizard, which should be quite simple. The driver installation wizard will analyze the PC for compatible devices and install the driver.

4-Restart your computer and enjoy the new driver, it's that simple.
