I started my regular work this morning, turned my laptop (HP 250 G4, Windows 10 64-bit) and accessed the internet through wi-fi. Suddenly, with no obvious reason, when I was answering some mails internet connection was cut out. OK, no problem, suspecting the error in my router I restarted the router. Nothing changed. No problem, I restarted the notebook with hope that it will solve the problem. Nothing changed, the problem persisted. With no time to go further into investigating the problem I restored my system to the last restore point when it was functioning properly. Nothing changed, the same problem was here. Then I turned Windows Network Diagnostics on and at the end received the message:
"The Realtek RTL 8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related problem".
Ok, I accessed Device Manager and checked the status of the Realtek RTL8723BE Wi-Fi adapter - there was a yellow triangle on its icon. I updated driver to newest version I found on the net - version 2023.54.331.2017 dated 2017-05-03. The yellow triangle momentarily dissapeared but I couldn't establish wi-fi connection and it appeared again. Ok, let's try the same the other way... I turned HP Support Assistant and did HP Network Check. It was diagnosed:
"Driver issue(104)
The Realtek RTL 8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related problem"
After all, I suspect that wi-fi adapter failed - it looks to me more like hardware problem than a software/driver issue . I am in Europe at the moment, in Czech Republic, speaking English among the people speaking mainly Czech language only - it would be a bit hard to find HP authorized service and communicate the problem. What can I expect down the road and if there is anything else I could do to fix the problem if the problem is related to drivers issue? Or everything up to now points to adapter hardware fail?
Ethernet connection works fine all the time, with no problem.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,
Regards,
dingor

HAs any had any updates on this issue?
We're coming to the end of our warranty on my 250 g4. Had this problem since day one.
the laptop has already been back to HP and they replaced the wifi adapter but still an RTL 8723BE. I have an engineer coming today so swap the antenna to see if that fixes it.
I hate this laptop now and wish i never purchased.

Problem solved! How? Since my initial post I have been using LAN internet connection, not being in the hurry to have my laptop repaired. I suspected wi-fi adapter failure. Then, it was last week, I received the message through HP Support Assistant that there was an HP update (no Windows update) - update issued by HP for specific devices. The update was related to BIOS. OK, I will update BIOS and then have my laptop repaired - that was my idea. After completeng installation and restarting laptop wi-fi suddenly started working??? Since then I have been using wi-fi connection again as I used to do it before the problem started. After all.... it was not hadware problem related to wi-fi adapter.... I would rather say it was some kind of software conflict (new wi-fi adapter driver - old version of BIOS???).
To all experiencing the same problem -- go to the HP support site, update BIOS to the newest version published (if you are not automatically notified of new updates), update wi-fi adapter driver to the newest version.... and it should start working again.
Good luck!
P.S. HP should have addressed this issue more thoroughly - I see there were people experiencing the same problem with the same wi-fi adapter - the BIOS update should have been published timely
