HP ProBook 430 G7 Notebook PC (6YX14AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Working at a small school with about 60 of the HP Pro Book 430 G7 Notebook with the Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCIe WiFi Adapter. I've had numerous complaints from people constantly being dropped from the wifi and when looking at the Meraki dashboard, it appears the laptops are roaming from AP to AP every 5 seconds or so. Is there any fix to this?

I have updated all drivers to the latest version.

Hi:

You did not specify what version of the driver you installed.

The ones on your notebook's support page are out of date.

This is the latest version of the driver.

Thank you. I went ahead and uninstalled the old driver and installed the driver you suggested. The laptop is still roaming constantly disconnecting every 6 seconds and immediately reconnecting (however, sometimes it doesn't). I also went ahead and disabled the Microsoft Wifi Direct Virtual Adaptor at the advice of another forum. The device is still reconnecting every 6 seconds. Any more advice?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions you can try.

You may want to consider replacing the Realtek card and upgrade to the Intel AX200 card.

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # L35282-005

You should be able to find this model Wi-Fi adapter on eBay.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the Wi-Fi card.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP ProBook 430 G7 Notebook PC

The two Intel cards listed in the service manual will not work in your specific notebook because those can only be installed to replace the same model Wi-Fi card.

I just swapped my Realtek adapter for the Intel version and I already see improvement in signal where I previously had no reception.  The service guide will show you how to do the replacement.  It's fairly simple but the connections are small.  Have a magnifying glass ready if you have difficulty with small items like I do.  Good luck!

Any update from HP with the issue?

There's an active discussion here: https://community.meraki.com/t5/Wireless-LAN/Meraki-MR46-and-Lenovo-E480-with-Realtek-8822BE-Wireles...

currently the work around is to revert back to older Realtek drivers.

are there any fix that does not involve replacing hardware or rolling back drivers? has HP/Realtek/Meraki acknowledged this problem?

Thanks,
