My laptop has the above mentioned Realtek WiFi adapter.  I would very miuch like to replace it with a Dual Band adapter if one is available.

In the meantime, I am trying to determine why my Motorola MG7450 Cable Modem is able to provide 150MBps on the 5GHz band, but only 4MBps on the 2.4GHz band.

As of yet I have not been able to contact Motorola to determine if I have configured my router incorrectly.  Is there anything I can do with the WiFi adapter to increase it's performance connecting to the 2.4Ghz band?

Thank youi for your assistance.

Eric

Hi, Eric:

The problem you have is that there is only one antenna cable connected to the RTL8723BE wifi card.

All but one dual band wifi cards require two antenna cables be connected, or either the wifi or the bluetooth won't work.

There is only one model wifi card that I know of that will probably work in your situation, and that would be this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)  HP Part # L17365-005

The card is on back order at the HP parts store.

The only place I have been able to find any of those is on eBay.

Thank you very much for the information.

Did you happen to see where I mentioned my router?  Is there anything that can be done with the NIC in the laptop regarding only getting 4 MBps speed?

You're very welcome, Eric.

The RTL8723BE wifi adapter can only work on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, so I wouldn't know why it is even showing up on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.

As far as only getting 4 MBPS on the 2.4 GHz band, that is way too low...the max throughput of the card is 72 MBPS.

Try updating the driver and see if that helps...
