Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Gday All,

As many would know, there are problems with the OEM wireless card installed in this model. (Realtek Model RTL8188EE). It doesn't work.

I would like to replace this card, and wonder whether it's a standard issue? Would the following suit as a replacement (as well as adding Bluetooth capability not present in the OEM card)? Other alternatives?

Cheers.

@CanberraPete, It's great to hear from you again.

I appreciate your efforts for getting back to us.

As you mentioned you are using an all in one PC, not a laptop.

I have checked the records and the only upgradable components on your PC are CD/DVD drive, Memory (RAM) and Hard disk drive.

You cannot upgrade the wireless card on your PC to a dual band. Because your PC was shipped with a single antenna. For a dual band wireless card, you would need two wireless antennas to work.

Hope this answers your query!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

Hey there! @CanberraPete, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!

I understand you would like to upgrade wireless card on your PC.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

I have checked the records and your PC does not have an option of upgrading the wireless card.

The only supported wireless card on your PC is:

709505-001    WLAN - RT FOCUS BGN 1x1

Refer the laptop user guide to know more information.

Also, you can purchase the part from parts store using this link.

Thanks for your comments, Mr Robot.

It seems that you may have looked up a different PC... our All-in-one, which is now 3 years old, is the HP20 2011a, which was sold only in Australia and NZ. It is not a laptop, but a desktop all-in-one. We are located in Australia.

The laptop user guide to which you refer does permit of changing the WLAN card, and lists a number of options for replacement.

Among them is the currently-installed card, Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter.

Please check your database again to see whether our particular model (HP20) permits an upgrade to wifi plus bluetooth.

Regards,

Pete
