Hi @POWERSTONE,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with the HP Wireless Mouse malfunctioning.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.
Please try the following steps to fix the issue:
1. Check the Mouse Battery
- Low battery power can cause erratic behavior. Replace the battery and test the mouse again.
2. Re-pair the Mouse
- Disconnect the mouse from your PC and re-pair it:
- Remove the device from Bluetooth settings or unplug the wireless dongle.
- Reconnect the dongle or pair the mouse via Bluetooth.
3. Clean the Scroll Wheel
- Dust or debris might affect the scrolling mechanism. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean around the scroll wheel.
4. Update Mouse Drivers
- Update the drivers to ensure compatibility:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on your mouse, then select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
5. Adjust Scroll Settings
- Adjust scroll settings to rule out software-related issues:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Mouse.
- Adjust the scroll options, such as Choose how many lines to scroll each time.
6. Test on Another Device
- Connect the mouse to a different PC. If the issue persists, it may indicate a hardware defect.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
