For all those still asking about how to remove the SIM tray in your laptop, the solutions were given by Banhien.

Does your machine have WWAN card option ? Without WWAN option, the SIM card slot has a plastic dummy, and it won't come out easily.

Regards.

So it is not meant to come out, unless you actually have a mobile radio (WWAN) card installed in your laptop! If you don't know whether or not it has the radio card, you can figure it out easily. If you press gently on the SIM slot cover  and release it, and it DOES NOT OPEN, then you likely DO NOT HAVE A MOBILE RADIO, and therefore, your laptop cannot use a SIM card for mobile data unless you install the mobile radio WWAN card. The other check you can do was also given by Banhien:

Open Device Manager > Network to see if it shows one of the following mobile radio WWAN cards:

● LTE CAT4: Huawei HP lt4132, LTE/HSPA+ w/GPS M.2
● LTE CAT9: Fibocom lt4210 LTE/HSPA+ w/GPS

If neither of these is present, your laptop does not have a mobile data radio card installed and will look like the image below. You will have cords 5 and 6 not attached to anything, and the SIM slot and connector will be empty!

Banhien continues to explain...

If yes, (Device Manager shows one of the cards in the 2 bullets above) then please ask your mobile service (cell phone) provider: do they support the installed WWAN card that you have. If they say yes, then you can use your own phone SIM, or get another from them, and simply put your SIM to its slot and your laptop will see it.
